Anti-Bullying NGOs and Charities - UKDuring the course on Bullying in Schools, you learnt about how to find out information regarding the support available to you, from your local school's anti-bullying policies to government guidelines and further actions you can take should you and your child be subject to abusive bullying behaviour. In this article, we will discuss and list anti-bullying NGOs and charities you can turn to for further support. We do not claim this list is in any way exhaustive, but hopefully, it will provide a useful starting point.

Childline (Charity)

https://www.childline.org.uk Helpline: 0800 1111 Childline is a registered charity, which offers help and support to children on common problems and challenges they could face. Childline offers one to one counselling, the Ask Sam service and a helpline, together with comprehensive body of useful content and advice on the pages of their website. The topics they cover include: * Bullying, abuse and safety * Drugs, alcohol and smoking * Anxiety, stress and panic * Friends, relationships and sex * Home and family * School, college and work Childline is a free, confidential service, available 24/7 to individuals under 19 in the UK, who are struggling with any issue they need guidance and support with.

Kidscape (Organisation)

https://www.kidscape.org.uk Parent Advice Line - 020 7823 5430 Kidscape is a children's anti-bullying organisation, whose mission is to promote the anti-bullying message and shine light on important child protection issues. They have been around since 1985 and their core mission is to help create a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow up in. Kidscape provide an exhaustive content base of advice and information, which is freely available to young people, as well as their parents and professionals who work with them. Additionally, they offer resources and lesson plans for teachers, training and consultancy in the form of workshops for staff, students and parents, together with workshops specifically designed for bullied children. The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA)

http://www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk ABA is a one of a kind alliance of both organisations and single individuals, who collaborate in an effort to stop bullying and create a safe world for children and young people to grow up in, live in and learn in. ABA is hosted by the National Children's Bureau and is part of the NCB Education and Equalities Team. When it comes to the issue of bullying, ABA provides expertise related to all its forms amongst children and youngsters. They have a wealth of experience, working with a great range of organisations, including the government, charities, media, documentary makers, public services, educational institutions, children's homes, young offender institutes and businesses. In addition, they provide an extensive body of written advice, news, research and resources, which are available free of charge on their website.

BulliesOut

https://bulliesout.com BulliesOut have been around since 2006, providing support and education to young people and child victims of bullying, as well as professionals who work with them. They ensure children are equipped with the vital skills, confidence, motivation and self-esteem that prepare them to report bullying incidents, improve their emotional health and increase their wellbeing. BulliesOut pride themselves on having 7500+ children and young people as participants in their forward thinking, interactive and creative workshops. Additionally, they have trained over 900 young people as Peer Mentors and had 750+ professionals take part in the awareness training sessions that they organise. They believe education, training, increased awareness and support are the tools needed to create a lasting change and progress toward stopping and preventing bullying. CyberSmile (NGO)

Their work focuses on building and promoting diversity, to create a safer digital community. Cybersmile work toward their mission, by providing education and promoting positive digital citizenship. This way, they reduce incidents of cyberbullying, alongside enabling victims to regain control of their lives, through offering professional help and supporting services. Their educational programs, support services and messages of positivity and hope reach millions of individuals internationally, every year. Ditch the Label (Charity)

www.ditchthelabel.org Ditch the Label are an innovative, international anti-bullying charity, who believe in a fair, equal and bullying-free world. They provide support to young people between the ages of 12 and 15, mostly through online partnerships. Additionally, they work with educational institutions, parents and care givers and other youth organisations. Ditch the Label believe in an innovative counter-bullying approach and partner with major brands likes Lynx, who support their mission. On their website, a wealth of educational and interactive materials related to bullying can be found, such as quizzes, surveys, research papers and advice. They offer options for people who need help and who want to help, to get in touch with them and move forward. Their head office is located in Brighton, UK. The above is by no means a comprehensive list of all NGOs and charities in the UK, who offer advice, support, education and consultation on bullying for young people and their parents, mentors and care givers. It serves to illustrate that if you or a loved one are struggling with issues relating to bullying, help is available. Use the above resources as a starting point and do not hesitate to look for additional resources, support groups and events, which are better suited to the particular situation you are going through.
