2Having something waxed for the very first time can be quite stressful for a number of people. Although that can often be attributed to a lack of knowledge or research about the process or what they are to expect. However, some simple preparation on your part should mean that no question will come as a surprise to you, so here are 10 of the questions that a first time waxer is more likely going to ask you.

Does it hurt?

This is something that you are going to have to address on a number of occasions because most people are convinced that all waxing is going to hurt like crazy. However, as you are of course aware it all depends on a combination of how good your skills are with the waxing motion as well as which part of the body is being waxed. Your answer to this question will depend on the part of the body that is being waxed.

Can you have a bikini wax while on your period?

This is one just for the women to ask, but you can understand why it is relevant and something worth knowing. With this, then can be informed how there is nothing to stop them from having a bikini wax but that during menstruation the skin can be a bit more sensitive, so it might hurt a bit more and cause some extra irritation than usual. Generally speaking, though, clients are told to avoid waxing during this time.

Is it common for men to wax?

This is a question that is becoming more common and the answer is simple. More and more men are getting their private parts waxed for grooming reasons and others do it because of their interest in various sporting activities whereby it is better to remove hair from your limbs. "Manscaping" is certainly something that is on the rise, so it is no longer very unusual to see a guy in the waxing salon.

Will it cause any irritation?

Once again it makes sense to know in advance if you are likely to end up being irritated after waxing because people have to understand how to deal with this if it does become an issue. The most important part is that they know what to do and not stress out if their skin becomes red or if they develop a slight rash. The chances of there being some kind of irritation does vary from person to person.

What happens with the wax stick?

People are often interested in what happens with the wax stick. It is always best to explain to them that the stick is only used once and then disposed of and it may even be a better idea to actually show them the disposal if possible. They are likely to be concerned about this due to hygiene issues so put their minds at ease before you even get started.

Do you use hard wax or a strip wax?

Often, clients will research waxing before they make their first appointment, so they may have been able to uncover some information on different types of waxing both with hard wax as well as using the strip method. Of course your answer to this does depend on the method that you use, but it is now becoming more common for the hard wax method to be employed because it leads to less irritation without having a negative impact on the quality of the waxing.

Why is waxing better than shaving?

This has to be probably the most common question that you are going to be asked as people will want to understand why they should put themselves through some pain and potential irritation as opposed to shaving. Now, there are a number of clear benefits including the better and smoother end result, the fact that it lasts longer, and the hair grows back thinner and it is harder to notice.

Can I help with the pain?

Since many clients will be concerned about dealing with pain, they will ask for ways to make the process as painless as possible. With this, you should advise taking a mild painkiller before the appointment and also recommend using a topical cream to reduce the chances of irritation.

How long is it going to last?

If people are going to put themselves through some pain and irritation, they will want to know how long the process will last. However, the actual answer is going to vary from person to person and at the same time the part of the body that is being waxed will also play a role since individual areas do tend to grow back at differing rates.

How long should my hair be?

Finally, people will want to make sure that their hair is long enough for the actual hair removal to work the way it should. Actual length does vary from between a quarter of an inch to half an inch but anything less than that will tend to mean that the hair and wax are not going to combine as they should.   Now, we are not saying that this is all of the questions that you may be asked by somebody looking at waxing for the first time, but people will have a tendency to ask a number of questions just to satisfy their nerves. Just take your time putting their mind at ease and there is a good chance that they will enjoy the experience.
