Veterinary Support Assistant Diploma

Veterinary Support Assistant Diploma Course

This course will give you an overview of the veterinary industry, the role played by Veterinary Support Assistants (VSAs), and the most common issues and challenges faced by those working in the profession.

It will equip you with the knowledge you will need to communicate effectively with other members of the veterinary team and further your career in this sector. Working as a VSA is a great way of making a real difference to the lives of sick and injured animals on a daily basis. However, the terminology and technical knowledge required to succeed as a VSA can seem intimidating to industry newcomers.

This course presents key concepts in animal care in a straightforward manner, so that you can begin your career with confidence. You will also obtain a working knowledge of key legislation necessary to keep you and your patients safe.

From administering first aid to routine surgery, you will learn what happens in the consultation rooms and operating theatres in a typical veterinary practice. The course addresses patient care at every stage of treatment, from diagnosis to surgery and post-operation recovery. It focuses primarily on the treatment of common domestic species, but the needs of exotic animals and horses are also addressed.

In light of the increasing emphasis on customer service within the industry, the course also examines the typical customer’s experience as they seek out the best possible care for their pet. Owners can become highly stressed when their beloved pet is ill, and this course contains practical advice for communicating effectively with customers facing emotional strain both in person and on the telephone.

This course will provide anyone looking to work as a VSA with a realistic insight into the workings of a veterinary practice and future options for career progression. I have started this course only 1 day ago and I cant stop studying. The information is very informative. I like the way the course gives you time to practice to get the skill right before you move onto the next subject.

I am looking forward to completing the course so I can start doing the nails properly. Highly Recommended.

Mia James

This course is absolutely brilliant for someone like me that has a busy working life – the modules are chunked into bite sized pieces and are really simple and straightforward to use.

It is easy to dip in and out of and pick up from where you left off – I was certainly glad I chose to pick all 3 levels – I am quite competent with Excel but I have also picked up new pieces of information from the beginners’ modules as well as really developing my skills with the more advanced information.

It has also meant I have had a really good refresh with parts of Excel that I haven’t used for a long time. I advise anyone who is considering skipping straight to the Intermediate or Advanced courses to go for this option – it really has proved excellent value for money!

Ryan Knight

Great support from tutors and IT staff! Emails are always answered quickly, even on late nights and early mornings. Good clear lay out across the website, very easy to navigate and keep track of modules completed.

Would highly recommend to anyone looking to gain more knowledge in their own time and develop in the area. I completed this course on my commute to and from work. I also received a student card with this course that was great to benefit discounts from.

I am already thinking about what other courses I can start with New Skills Academy as soon as possible!

Sarah Howden

I really enjoyed this course. Was a lot of reading and had to stop and try to take it in.

There were 21 modules, and most of them took 45 minutes to complete, so you need to be in a position, where you actually have the time to do all the tasks that are required. The tasks are mainly to do things by yourself to practise what you have just read, but doing it will help you out so much.

Will be looking for another course, as I enjoyed this so much, definitely worth the price as the certificate is worth more on your cv.

Danielle Booth

Before starting this course I had no prior knowledge in floristry. The course not only gave me the tools I needed to get started but also gave me the passion and the confidence to move forward with floristry as a career.

Through the content I have learned within the course I have been able to not only make, but also sell many of my own designs as well as book a couple of future events.

This has been a great launching pad for me into a career I am truly enjoying. I highly suggest for anyone who is considering floristry to start with this course.
