Food Psychology for Mind and Body Certification

Food Psychology for Mind and Body

This course is designed to help you better understand your relationship to food and eating, mind and body. The course offers a mixture of theory around the psychology of eating, nutritional principles and practical tips on how to establish and sustain a healthy mindset around food and your body. It is not a diet or a meal plan.

It will guide you through a deeper understanding of your identity as an eater, as well as outline how to harness this insight, in order to create a compassionate, intuitive, healthy and freeing relationship with food, which will support your holistic wellbeing and sense of self.

Please note that the course is intended for educational purposes only: it is not a form of therapy. If you feel that you need therapeutic support for disordered eating, the course provides guidance on where to seek it.

You will Learn:

  • An introduction to food psychology: the factors that underlie the what, how, why and when of our eating behaviours
  • How to recognize your own food behaviors and mindset around eating through self-awareness
  • How to make holistically healthier choices, based on intuitive, embodied insight into what wholesomely feeds and fuels your life
  • How to cultivate a mindset of self-love around food and your body
  • How diet culture has been unhealthily normalised in our society, and how we can healthily reject its influence on our eating psychology
  • How intuitive eating as a practice can help you navigate a new, healthy and balanced relationship to food, as well as to life
  • How your relationship to food and body is a mirror to your relationship with life
  • How to get help if you feel you are struggling with disordered eating

Benefits of Taking This Course:

  • Gain greater understanding of how you think, feel and behave around food
  • Learn how to make your relationship with food more conscious and more aligned with healthy principles
  • Foster an intuitive relationship with food and your body — one that is driven by what feels balanced, nourishing and satisfying at an embodied level
  • Gain autonomy from diet culture and diet mentality
  • Gain insight into where your relationship with food and your body reflects other possible areas of growth in your life, and step into those with newfound confidence

You can download the training material if you prefer to take note directly on the paper version.

This course is very comprehensive. It is packed full of very helpful information to aid the Teaching assistant to use his or her skills and knowledge to the full.

If this course is being taken by those who have no knowledge of being a TA, then in my honest opinion they would certainly know about the role when they finish.

I do like the online tests at the end. It does make you think and definitely reinforces what material has just been read. It is also an incentive when seeing a 'grade' to realise how much has been taken in thus encouraging enthusiasm to proceed to the next module.

In all I would say that this course is certainly worth doing, I'm enjoying it and what it has to offer.

Samantha Morgans

This course was easy to read. I could take as long as I needed and go at my own pace and I was surprised to find that this was an accredited course recognised by my employer. It does what it says on the tin.

I would recommend to anybody wanting to gain knowledge in this area, to add to your education section on your CV or even just for fun! The certificate now looks nice in my achievements folder.

I would most definitely enrol in this way of learning again when I am ready to learn another new subject.

Thanks to this course I can take my career in a new and improved direction. After sustaining injuries where I have to be wheelchair bound I thought career prospects were slim. But now I have qualified I have hope again.

This course is amazingly well structured in such a way that it enabled me to memorise everything and in my own time, and explained in terms everyone could understand, the modules were short and to the point with very little un-needed information and at a great price too!

Online support staff were amazing they couldn't help enough. Messages were sent within 20 minutes and were extremely accurate. The final exam was easy and gave me plenty of time to complete with 30 questions and 30 minutes to answer (although only 10 minutes were needed) after ordering my certificate it was delivered within 48 hours. It looks amazing and the quality is great too.

Emily Zivtins

I am over the moon with my experience in completing my first online course with New Skills Academy. I found the whole process quick and efficient and the site very easy to navigate. I found it helpful to complete short tests at the end of each module as I feel this help to review the information I have read and confirm that I understood it and could retain the information as well. I found the course to be very well written and the information provided to be interesting and relevant to the course and the final test to be efficient in recapping everything I had learnt throughout the course. I completely the course quite quickly as was able to study using my iPhone as the course was iOS compatible which I found to be the best way of accessing the course, information and tests. I'm thrilled that I passed my first course and can't wait to get started on the next one. Thank you for such a positive and rewarding experience.
